Process
Discovery & Programing: asking questions, defining goals
At the beginning of the process I spend time listening and discovering your needs, wants, scope of work, and budget. I want to understand as much information as possible up front about your vision and your desired outcome. I will explore how a space functions (or doesn’t function), how it needs to function in the future, who will use the space and how their needs impact the design. This leads me to create a design concept and client profile statement, a project timeline divided into phases along with vision boards ensuring we agree on the design direction.
Schematic Design: laying the design foundation
During the schematic design process I will accomplish presentation of rough concept floorplan layouts incorporating space planning and ideal furniture layouts, identify materials and furnishings direction. These elements are brought together on a virtual design presentation for approval.
Design Development: refining & developing the details
Now that a single path forward has been identified floor plans are further developed, specific finishes, fixtures, cabinetry, flooring, paint colors and every detail that goes into the complete design plan is selected. A final design is presented to you for approval.
Construction Documentation: documents for bidding and construction
Documents are prepared to allow for estimates from recommended contractors for construction of your project as well as them obtaining necessary building permits. Documents may also be used for architect or engineer review depending on the structural elements requiring alteration.
Purchasing & Installation: ordering & tracking
All ordering details are confirmed, drawings, construction plans, furniture layouts, materials product schedule, floor plans, and elevations are reviewed and checked for accuracy. Product lead times are considered and the client gives written approval for selections and plans. Orders are placed, tracked, and communicated to contractors, clients and the receiving company. Once items have been received, NHI oversees complete installation of furnishings.

NHI provides a highly curated, full-service design experience through our tried-and-true systems for residential projects, including full-home remodels, new builds, and whole-home furnishings. We manage every phase, from design and documentation through procurement and installation with precision and ease, allowing our clients to enjoy the process. By limiting the number of projects we take on, we are able to provide a highly personalized, seamless experience and are best suited with clients seeking a fully guided, white glove experience.
